Stevensweert

Fortified town with historic a city center

Stevensweert is an old fortified town founded by the spaniards. The fortifications can still be recognized in the town's unique geometric street pattern. The historic city center invites you to enjoy some true burgundian hospitality. Thanks to the ferries between the various places, there are many beautiful walking and cycling routes available.

An island of the Meuse

Stevensweert, together with Ohé en Laak, make up what is called the 'Island on the Meuse', an island formed by two (former) arms of the river. The main stream of the Meuse river, on which Stevensweert is located, forms the natural marking of the border with Belgium and is therefore also called Grensmaas.
